In many ways this is the ideal travel guide to Paris. It is a convenient size, not too heavy or large to slip into your pocket/bag. It has a clear, separate, laminated street map of the city, plus an essential map of the Metro. There are suggestions for walks and a list of sights not to be missed. In such a slender volume there are bound to be omissions – there is no reference to the gay and lesbian scene, for example, so if you have room in your rucksack, take with you also “Time Out” Paris which helps to supplement the information given in the AA CityPack Guide. Better still, go with a friend who knows the city (and the language) or stay with a local who has the time and inclination to take you round the less familiar parts. I was lucky in my recent visit (my first trip abroad) to have both. They were terrific!
